Jeff Kimber wins the GUKPT Leg 2 Walsall

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

The third hand back after the break and it’s all over.  They see a flop of 975 and Jeff check-raises Peter to 150k.  The turn brings another 5 and Jeff bets 300k.  Peter “all-in” and “call” from Jeff.  Peter has J9 and Jeff had flopped the nuts with 86.  Peter needs another 9 or 5.  The river is a 3 and Jeff adds this title to his World Headsup Championship.

Peter gets £48,790 for second.  Jeff gets £83,910 plus seat in the Champion of Champions plus seat in Grand Final plus a marvellous Blue Square trophy, oh, plus an iPod Nano apiece.

We have added another video to the site. This one is a hand played out between Jeff Kimber and Dharminder Buttar. To view it, click here.

Heads up

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Big swing to Jeff Kimber now.  Jeff raised pre-flop and Peter called.  On a flop of 93J Jeff bet 110k and Peter “all-in” and Jeff calls.  Peter with KJ and Jeff with pocket AA’s.  The turn is an Ace “enough, enough”.  Jeff on 2 mil and Peter on 800k.

Few hands later and Peter gets some back with AK v 66 of Jeff’s, all-in -preflop.  First card out is an ace.

Jeff Kimber with 1,740,00 : Peter Charalambous with 1,140,000 chips

They’ve just popped off for a short break.  When they come back we’ll be on level 24 with blinds at 20k 40k (no ante headsup)

‘D’s Toast

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

‘D’ Buttar and Peter Charalambous see a flop of 3J6 and ‘D’ bets 140k, which is called by Peter.  The turn is another 6 and ‘D’ bets 175k.  Peter hesitates then “all-in” and immediate “call” from Dharminder.  Dharminder has Q6.  The latter needs the case 6 to survive. It’s not to be and ‘D’ and his entourage are better off by £35,160 for a third place finish.

Nik Persaud out in 4th

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Folds to the blinds.  Jeff Kimber says “all-in” from the small and Nik immediate “call” from the big.

Jeff with JT and Nik with AQ.

Jeff hits a ten when the board comes 489TK.

Nik gets £23,680 for some impressive plays this leg.

Buttar now has 780k; Charalambous has 790k; Kimber has 1.3 mil.

Jeff Kimber new chip leader

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Jeff is back on top after Nik Persaud raises first to speak to 60k.  Jeff makes it 200k from the big blind.  Nik thinks an age then says “all-in”.  Immediate call from Jeff, who flips up ACES !  Nik has AQ and when the flop brings a King and a Jack he still has hope.  Was not to be, alas and Jeff doubles up and has over a million in chips.  Nik has 200k left and the blinds are now up with the new 45 minute level.

Blinds 15k  30k ante 2k for Level 23

Craig Metcalfe out in 5th

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

It doesn’t take too much bluffing off your chips to leave you with nothing.  Craig tried it again with Jd3d this time and after limping in and hitting nothing on a Qs9h3hQh6h against ‘D’ Buttar, he ends up announcing all-in on the river for his last 129k chips.

Buttar touches the chips in the centre to count the pot.  Is warned again by Zak.  This boy is such a novice, live anyway. He calls with 9h7s to take the pot.

Craig gets £17,940

Nik Persaud

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Nik’s game is really coming together this session.  He takes a 200k chip chunk out of Craig Metcalfe’s stack when he check calls on every street with top pair, Kings, with his K9.  Craig’s final bet of 125k sounded like a bluff and when called he turned over Jd9d.

So, a busted flush draw for Craig.

After dinner

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Blinds for Level 22: 12k 24k ante 2k

Nik puts quarter-of-a-million chips in from the button, all-in, second hand back from the dinner.  Only the blinds to beat.  Peter is thinking about it, from the small blind. He folds as does Craig on the big blind, but Pete shows an Ace.  Nik shows him an Ace with a king.
Very next hand Charlie is all-in and called by Nik with AQ.  Charlie has QT.  Nik makes a broadway straight and Charles Denton is out in 6th for £14,350.
