That’s a wrap then here in Luton.  A cheesey sandwich then off to bed.  Please note the date change for the next GUKPT Leg in Brighton.

The seventh leg of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (Brighton) has been moved back a few weeks – it will now run from the 4th-10th October, with the Main Event taking place over the final three days.  There will be two flights on the same single start day (Friday 8th October), starting at 12pm and 6:30pm.  This means that the originally planned Friday side event (£100 No Limit Hold’em) is cancelled, while on Thursday there will be a new ‘Re-entry’ £100 event (players knocked out may re-register in the first levels).

The festival by the sea will still feature the full bundle of seven side events, plus two super satellites: one to the Brighton Main Event (Wednesday 6th) and one to the GUKPT Grand Final (which is fast approaching) on Saturday 9th.  To view the full schedule of events in October, please visit:
http://www.grosvenorukpokertour.com/leg7.shtml
More information will be released nearer the date.

There’s also a special incentive to pre-register online for this popular leg: the first 20 players to register to the Brighton Main Event on the poker client will pay no registration fee (£70)!

Take care all and thanks for watching!

Short and sweet

August 15th, 2010 at 11:12 pm

A few hands in and Ade raises it up.  Neil comes over the top and Ade “all-in!”  Immediate call from Neil holding AK.  Ade in a spot ‘o bother with A9 and gets no help whatsoever.

Neil Channing is the GUKPT Luton Champion winning £64,050

Ade Odetoyinbo takes home £43,500 for his second place finish.

Heads up

Well, it happened.  Keith moved in with A9 and called by Ade in the BB with pocket NINES.  No help for Keith and he has slightly less chips at 620k.

Keith Johnson finishes in 3rd place for £28,050

Neil calls Keith’s all-in holding A9 and he’s sick as he turns over his steal hand of 96.  He turns a SIX to double up to 750k and back in the game.

It had to happen

August 15th, 2010 at 10:46 pm

Neil Channing makes his standard 90k raise but this time Keith announces “all-in!”  Neil double checks his cards.  “Yep I call!”

Neil Channing AK

Keith Johnson 77

First card out is a KING.  Followed by a couple of QUEENS and a couple of EIGHTS.

Neil’s count is 1.26 million leaving Keith with 360k and a turn as the short stack.  I cannot believe we may have Ade and Neil headsup.  They have been goading each other something chronic since the start.  We’ll see.

See no flops hear no flops

It’s all pre-flop raises and all-ins and all folds.  Neil possibly getting the better of it.  I still feel Ade is first to go.  Easy to say since he’s lowest, I s’pose.

I’ll tell ya what they want

What they really, really want

1st £64050
2nd £43500
3rd £28050

The State of Play

August 15th, 2010 at 10:19 pm

The lovely Dena has taken over as Master of Ceremonies as the play is hotting up.  These blinds are forcing the play now, with a standard re-raise up to 140k pre-flop.  Power plays a-plenty and shouldn’t be long now ’til conclusion.
